Correct me if I am wrong but I think your WB is slightly off.... the seagull looks like it has a slight blue cast...

Perhaps he's reflecting the blue sea
The sharpness is what struck me first. The brightness of the seagull is perhaps a little too much and his cheast is a bit blown, but not by much. Good use of desaturation too.

white balance was on auto. I generally only play with white balance in poor light areas. I didn't have too much time to configure wb as the ferry soon took off
yeah the seagull was right on the edge and the water was quite blue in the sun. I've been playing with b/w saturation, its quite fun. This pic looked quite good with the greenery, however I wanted it to look more urban hence the effect. was shot at Birchgrove wharf.
