We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

I am constantly being amazed by this work of art, Nikon have named the SB800.
We had a small get together last night for my Wife's 30th, and the below photo was taken in "total darkness", except for the two candles atop the cake.
Viewing the photo on the PC, one would think that I had taken the photo with the room lights on.
Exif info (for anyone interested) was:
D70 & 18-70 Kit Lens @ 18mm
1/100sec. @ f6.3
ISO200
SB800 (iTTL mode) +0.7EV - bounced off roof
Exposure Mode - Manual
(no PP except for resizing and adding border)
As you can see, I could have slowed my settings down, or bumped up ISO, but with the SB800 in this type of environment, one does not need to.
And, no horrible shadows to speak of..... I am very impressed !
Can you tell I'm a happy camper

Impressive stuff, SB800 is definitely on my list, but at present a tripod and ball head are slightly above it.. .. although the flash is cheaper then the ballhead and tripod combined. If I hadn't read your description I would of thought the lights were one, and the absence of shadows is lovely.

Wow, I would never have thought the room was really dark with just a couple of candles for light, it looks as though the room was nicely lit for the photo... it's an impressive piece of technology...

Very impressive! I assume you didn't use a diffuser at all?
I actually bought myself an SB-800 last week but have yet to have a decent play.
And this is my tentative first post on this forum.  I tend to lurk. Tim

No, I didn't have the diffuser on. I've found I get a better image bounce-flashing "without" the diffuser, but use the diffuser when fill-flashing outside, or indoors when flashing directly onto the subject.
I must admit, adfter I'd taken the shot and reviewed the image on the back of the camera, I couldn't believe my eyes....I certainly wasn't expecting to see the whole room lit up like that. And I am talking pitch dark (except for those two small candles).... 
Stubbsy - it certainly is ! I remember seeing an MPEG file from a Nikon site with a famous photog shooting some cheerleaders with about 6 SB800's. It would be like standing in front of a convoy of Kenworths on the Hume Hwy Dave
