More as a topic of interest, took these pics last night. I asked on Friday night if It was O'K to take flash pics of the turtles nesting / laying eggs and was told it was O'K if I did not get to close.
Last night after taking 30 odd pics, the same person came roaring up and read the riot act to me for taking flash pics!!! Needles to say I was 
After I reminded her that she said it was O'K the previous night, the usual denials etc.  Mmmm, what is one to do? get written permission in triplicate signed and witnessed by your gret Grandfather?... 
Anyway, I got da pics....

Bootleg turtles. Are they not of the original variety? 
Sorry to hear of the 'agro' involved. BTW, probably not a good idea to use flash as bright lights tend to annoy turtles. When nesting, they use the moon to direct them to their nesting positions and the hatchlings also use the moon to guide them to the sea. hatchlings usually hatch on a full moon. Bright street lights also cause problems for them and places such as Bundaberg in QLD have bright lights near to nesting sites. Fortunately there are plenty of people to give the hatchlings a helping hand to the sea.

Yep! totally agree, but as this was my first turtle "experience" thought I would do the right thing and ask first, was surprised a little that she said I could.
Next time will go early AM & late PM with a 50mm 1.8 and see what results I get.
How anyone could harm let alone eat one of these beautifull creatures is beyond me.

I totally agree with you. I put turtles and whales in the same basket. How anyone could kill such a beautiful and important creature is beyond my level of understanding and comprehension.
We are an evil species at times.

Killa,
Port Hedland, its the only place in the world where they come in and lay thier eggs on a "town" beach. January the hatchlings come out and make thier way to the sea.
While I was on a "tiki" tour this afternoon around the place, found this sign....

.....on a technical note, was really pleased with the performance of the SB800, it really is suited to this type of fast snap shooting.
