Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Due to the amount of duplicate photos I took, I don't really have a lot of photos from last night's outing. I'm dribbling them out over a few posts to make it seem like I was more productive than I really was.
I want to thank Mattk for giving me the idea of photographing this. Actually he didn't give me the idea so much as I STOLE it, after I saw him photographing the water. Anyway, full credit to Matt, I wouldn't have this shot otherwise.
I don't know if it works in BW, but I gave it a go. I usually favour colour photographs.

The colour is much better. The purple tinge really looks nice.

I prefer the colour Doug, and really like the magical properties you've captured here, I wouldn't be surprised if the land of the lake didn't arise from the water herself.... I'd certainly prefer it to a Peat Monster

Good job Doug! Here's a take on my version. The lesson is that 2 photographers can point their cameras at the same subject and end up with prints that are quite different. I intend to rework the other versions later on. PS I love the intense blue that you've accentuated in your inmage.

Regards
Matt. K

That's very interesting, thanks for posting that Matt. I'm puzzled why mine is so much more blue than yours. Was that the photo you used flash for? I didn't use flash.
Mine's very blue out of the camera. I just tried to post-process again, and it keeps coming out blue. In fact I have to select the blue channel and reduce the saturation of the blue to stop it looking garish after increasing the contrast. I didn't really accentuate the blue (other than what happened when I increased the contrast), but I did try to bring out the red in the rocks by adding saturation to the red channel.
I hope that I'll be able to see your reworked versions in the future, I'm very interested.
