Sydney Night Shoot - 12/11/2005

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

I actually had the privilege of seeing Birddog use his camera tonight... That's a first for me... He's usually too busy hosting at mini-meets...

There were about 12 of us there tonight and a great time was had by all... More shots to come, once I've PP'd them...

I just had to take a pic :-):

Not as sharp as I would have liked, but it was a 10 second exposure :-)

I go out and shoot very often with other as Matt.K and Stubbsy.
More often when I go to Nelson Bay. :wink:

You're kidding John. That's a "frame it" job :lol: Clone out or crop out the people in the bottom left and stick it on your wall!!

Lovely shot! Wow...the colours are popping off the monitor! I think I detect a litle noise removal in the image but this has been well handled.

Awesome John, the colours are really singing! Shame I missed another Night shoot, but I'll get to one eventually, looking forward to see some more shots.....

I'd disagree with johndec and would prefer to keep the people in the shot, but that's just me :)

A little colour noise removal applied in ACR, but nothing else...

A few more from last night, all taken with the Tokina 12-24...

Firstly, a 2x2 stitched image of the NSW Art Gallery. Original images taken at 24mm, 0.5s @ f4, stitched with Autostitch, a little vanishing point treatment in CS2 to remove a No Parking sign.

Bloody awesome pic.

What an inspired shot. This really has fantastic appeal to me and I keep finding myself drawn back to it to examine the scene. So much to examine yet not busy. An impressive achievement.

#1 - doesn't work for me, sorry. It's a little too distorted for my tastes

#2 - Makes me wish I'd been there earlier. Postcard shot or not, this is a well crafted image (ie I like it :D )

#3 - A good record of the event

#4 - I think the potential in this shot hasn't been realised (of course I could be completely wrong). I'd portrait crop around the statue and the end of the building to its left, then dodge the top a little to bring the statue top out from the black sky)

#5 - I like what you've done here, but would also be interested seeing this in B & W

Fair enough... If I can figure out how to get Transform to work in CS2, I'll fix it for you...
