On a cold and rainy Boston Night...

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

I find myself sitting on the forums again, so I thought I should share a few select shots for my time here so far, these are intended as a series they are just shots from over the week here thrown together.

Please give feedback, and be critical as I want to learn. Thanks!

Alpha_7,

Quick feedback from me:

1. You need contrast, especiallty on the banner. Regarding to composition, maybe having as a background one facade, even this on teh right could make better. Liny banner, liny background.

2. Again more contrast here. Perspective correction. I am afraid now it is too late since you will lose the sculpture. Cutting off unecessary building on the right could help.

3. Verticals. Bending doesn't help here, does it? Also you could show kees.

4. Go away and avoid structure on the bottom.

5. Good. You could bring center a bit down.

6. More contrast. Strong perspective propably doesn't work (?)

7. You wake up to early on holidays, definitelly :)

8. Nice. I would suggest to work more with this subject. It has a potencial.

That all. Sorry to be so telegraphic, but I am a bit in rush.

Regards,

Craig

Good to see it's not all work.

Shots 1,2,6 and 7 are all a little dark and could do with some curves adjustment to lighten them.

#3 is a shot with potential, but needs a lower perspective on the statue. The background does nothing and would be better cropped tightly or OOF.

The Rowes WHarf shots are the stand outs and I can see why you like the building so much.

I suggest you go back and take a few more shots like #5 with the circles done in different ways. I'd like to see one looking right up the centre as well. I'd also try taking some shots looking down from the top if you can.

#6 is a great concept with the sky though the archway. Can you get a higher shot of this?
Peter
