AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D

Hi all - any advice on this lens? What's it worth?
Am looking for a good but inexpensive prime for mostly landscape work. Dunno whether the effective (approx) 75mm of this one would be too long though.

I got mine for $300; you can get them cheaper if you look around.
Mate you can’t go wrong with this lens, money well spent

Check http://www.vanbar.com.au for a good price. I'm sure if you shop around town you will get a good price if you barter.

It might even be worth thinking about the 1.4 lens instead. But that will cost a bit more. Although I have a 1.8 and am very happy with it.

Might be a bit tricky for landscape - especially on a DSLR. However some argue a good photographer can make anything work...

But it has excellent optics for the money, it great value and lots of people like em. I am the exception - I don't particularly find this focal length too useful.

I have 1.4, love it. 1.8 is well recommended.
IMHO 50mm is quite a bit of lenght in landscape, but photogs can make thing happens as other said.

Sheepie, I have it and can recommend it at a pinch, love it at the price, however it's not quite right for many applications. A little too long for landscape, can be a little too short for portraits and doesn't have the best bokeh I've seen but I still enjoy it for it's f1.8 at around $200.
