Home-made macroI got inspired by the other thread on reversing the lens for macro shots so I bought a tamron lens for $20 (which by the way had a cpl filter on it)

I have taken the mount off and I've stuck a Skylight filter on it. I'm using an old minolta 50mm 1.4 lens. I haven't stuck the mount permanently yet, I was wondering if anyone can give me any ideas that would improve this setup, ie. would a zoom lens be better? or is it better to have the f1.4 to make it easier to focus etc. __________

So, an el-cheapo lens, plus a reversed skylight filter? Araldited together, I presume? Sounds very interesting. I would remove the glass from the filter; within this context it serves no purpose. And make sure that it's light-tight - that there's no leakage around any screw-holes, the connection between the filter and the mount, etc. g.

 Hi Gary

Actually at the moment they're only held together by tape. Here is my first test shot with it
camera sitting on top of the desk, f16 about 6sec. Not very sharp but I'm sure that's operator error. Should get better when on a tripod using remote trigger etc. Last edited by phillipb on Mon Nov 29, 2004 4:57 pm, edited 1 time in total.
