Hi, I'm new here - 1st post.

Hi all! I'm new to the forums (been lurking for a couple of weeks) and new to photography in general, so I thought it was about time I surfaced to say “hello” and introduce myself. I just bought my first SLR (a DSLR at that!) a couple of months ago: a D70s duty-free at Narita airport on my way to Berlin for a short student exchange. Before that my history with photography is quite limited, I messed around a bit with B&W on my mum's pentax (el cheapo, I think it was a MZ-5?) for a couple of years.
Anyhow, here's a mix of photos to show you what I'm about. Please throw out some comments, and please don't hold back or feel the need to be polite. I'm a big man, I can take it
On the train
In a club called ICON
A friend of hers gave her that star cushion as a parting gift, which I think is such a good prop!
This is one of my favourites, despite the burnt out areas. I saw the graffitied/enhanced mailbox and just as I whipped out my camera, the mailman came to collect the mail and to complete the picture
Hangin out with friends on Kurferstendamm str. the last day I was there
Some poor bastard who got punched outside the Coogee Bay Hotel the other weekend
As you can no doubt tell already, I have a definite preference for people as subjects over landscapes/flora/fauna, and I'm not deterred by grainy/noisy, shaky, long, poor exposures
