First post, first field shoot with my D70 and 70-210 lens, first public display of my shooting skill??

Image

I needed to clean it up in PS with some sharpening and H&S work. No crop required so I managed to get my boy within the frame pretty well.

One thing I learnt during this outing is to ensure the focus lock is on.

I normally film downhill mountainbike racing. After many hours of filming its now lost its appeal. The occasional photo I took somehow gave me more pleasure. I think partly because its easier to share a photo and its more "immeadiate".

Anyway, I can see I'll need to practice tracking and exposure skills.

Cheers

That's some hardcore leaning :) Ahh finally another person on this forum who takes pics of MTB races...dammit I'm no longer unique   :P

It's nice and sharp for a first go. I'd suggest keeping an eye out for the best angle to portray the action.

I'd also suggest looking at the photos in the MTB mags to get some ideas. I've posted my MTB photos on the forum before. Feel free to have a look if you want.

That is a good first post GDH. Quite an unusual angle - looks like he is about to fall off. Be really cool if the glare off the goggles wasnt there so you could clearly see the concentration on the rider's face.

Post up some more if you have em.

Terrific action shot - did the rider stay upright?
Love the avatar, too.

Hidded from view is a "burm", bank which helps them get around corners at these angles. He came into it from the RHS of the shot. Yes he stayed on :)
