Hi Hardware, these are good shots but just a few sugestions, on a sunny day try and get on the bright side if possible if not you be best to use flash for fill, maybe get down a bit lower as well i know it is hard to make these things look good.
But well done keep at it practice is the only way to learn.

Yeah BBJ nailed it... good advice, plus look for those clear visers! after a while karts can be the same but a nice tight shot can uncover some great facial expressions.... I hate tinted visers (except for my own )

some good moments there,
1st shot good position - but the sunny reflection is giving you hot sposts
try photographing before the reflections appears esp if the sun is right behind you. the reflection will be directly in front of you = bad panning position. or wait for clouds to soften light- lost of a few stops of light.
in Johns pic, it looks like it cloudy so you position won't really matter, just choice your fav spots. in full sunlight shooting back lit cars is a pain, try not to use flash, may result in upset driver.either choose another spot or wait for sun to change position
