Just a couple of shots to share from my recent climb up Mt Kinabalu....

#1 - Laban Rata resthouse

#2 - Low's Peak (4095m)

Them be some pretty big mountains! :shock:

I'd hate for a large bolder to come crashing down on that resthouse! :lol:

Very nice, Gooseberry. How was the climb? I have enough trouble getting on the roof to do the annual air conditioning clean out. :lol:

This was posted earlier today and I replied, but it seems that was one of the casualties of the restore. I was impressed when I found my post in the history of my RSS client:

I never got to see the upper slopes in person (we had very bad weather and it was in 2001 while they were searching for the body of that English girl) but I've seen some stunning photos from up there. Did you get any more of the granite formations?

Wow, what a stunning location! Dunno if I'd tackle the climb, just looking at it and I'm sweating :lol:

That re-inforces just how unforgiving and tough environments like this are, I have a deep respect for you guys that master it...

The climb seemed liked torture in some bits, the D70 started to weigh a tonne and I was wondering why I brought it along. But making it to the top was worth it in the end, although I'll defintely be thinking twice if someone asks me to go climb anything any time soon :lol:

hehe.. yeah, the scenery up there is quite nice, I was impressed.

Yep, that first shot of the resthouse was after I reached the top and came back down again. Too bad you got bad weather and couldn't make it to the top. When we reached the resthouse on the way up it was very much clouded over, so not many shots. It cleared up by evening and we had clear skies during the early morning (3am) climb up the final stages - quite a surreal experience climbing up the latter rocky parts under monnlight. But of course, when we were reaching the peak the mist rolled in and it was windy and bloody freezing.

Have a few more shots on the way down (still processing some more when I have time)

#6 One of the guides (while we were resting, the guides still had enough energy to play Sepak Takraw!)
