For those I didn't get a chance to speak to in Sydney (lucky for you!), my husband and I are off to Zambia in just over a week. I'm pretty excited about it since we'll also be there for my birthday. We'll be there for 2 weeks so hopefully we have lots of luck and I get lots of shots. Anyway it was good to go to Taronga Zoo to get some practice in. I finally went through the rest of my pics tonight and picked out a few.

Can tigers be cute?

Nicole,

I would like to wish you and your husband a safe and exciting holiday. A number of us will be thinking of you, lucky devil.
Tigers, Lions ansd Snow Lepoards are always cute behind perspex/glass/wire cages. The first shot does it for me :)

Some excellent shots there Nicole. Was in Zambia in '93 and just last year spent our honeymoon in Sabi Sands Game Reserve (Sth Africa) . Africa is in my blood and presents some fantastic photo opportunities. Am very jealous of your trip, I guess Zambia will be quite different since I was last there, I believe they have some very "civilised" bush camps now! :D

Cheers
Marc

Sensational pics Nicole. The Tiger really hits the spot. So clear and crisp, his expression is superb and your composition is brilliant. However your other shots are just as good.

Have a great time in Zambia. I am sure you will.

Nicole, I am envious!

My partner is South African and her parents live in Botswana. We spent 10 weeks in SA/Bots earlier this year and also ventured up to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe/Zambia - one thing I can certainly recommend!

I know everyone's probably telling you this but just make sure you keep an eye on your gear..

Have a great time!

Enjoy your trip o/s Nicole, and happy birthday too.

Majestic cats - beautiful. Would it trivialise your skill as a photographer if I were to ask what lens was used? ;)

Marc, we spent 2 weeks in 2001 in Southern Africa for our honeymoon. That's where I became addicted. It's definitely in my blood.

Liam, 10 weeks! Now I'm jealous. My gear goes with me everywhere so will definitely be keeping an eye on it.

Onyx, the 80-400VR. Should be a good lens for Zambia. Of course there are other combinations I wish for.

Thanks for the comments. :D Will be nice to have some warmer weather too!

Nicole. Have a great time (like you need to be told  ) and bring back some great captures. For me I agree the first shot is great, but I also really like the light on the lion and how it's just catching his mane.

Nicole,

You have captured some awesome expressions on those animals which is hard to do at the zoo at times (they often just look bored). It shows you have a real emotive connection going on there. Based on these, Id say that you are going to get some stunners over there.

Im jealous and really want to go to Zambia myself one day :)

Have a great trip and bring us back some pearlers!

Rob

Edit: P.S. Snow Leopard, then Tiger, then DollarBird for me.

I'm hoping to give it a test run this weekend. I haven't been out taking photos much as friends/inlaws seem to want to catch up all at once. I have no doubt that it will come in very handy as even the camp supplied ones did on the last trip.

Thanks again for all the lovely comments. :D

Have a great time Nicole,

don't take all the good shots, leave some for me :D :D

I got a beanbag from Birddog, I still have to test it out before my trip. Looking forward to some great shots. Looking at the great shots you posted on this thread, you will come back with some great ones.

Have a happy birthday while over there.

Cheers,
