Few weeks back Nicole and I were taking photos of Black Shouldered Kites and to the right of us we could see a big bird struggling to fly into a strong head wind. Managed to get a few shots off, another Pelican came along a few minutes later aswell. This was one of the better shots that I managed to get.

Yep, so I have :)

I agree it's not the best, but then again we haven't really had the best opportunities of shooting them. I want to get some closeups but they're usually quite timid. They must be friendlier up north :)

One of the guys I know from the Pennisula whose done a Pelican Conservation Course says the best way to get them to come to you is to use fishheads. They're also like a big chicken, you can grab them and they make a lot of a fuss and struggle but once you tuck their wings under and stroke them they go all dosile.

OK yeh they are a nice bird, just have to watch the blown highlights with them but yes a graceful bird. I have heard of people loosing there keys and stuff if they land near you and well they have a look around for food and will pick up anything.LOL but i took a pic a long time ago, right place at right time but was a plain blue sky so i made a fake one came out ok i guess.

This one he was sitting on top of a poll looking down at me, nothing spectacular.
