G'day,
Got my new toy (thanks Birdy!) A bouncing baby 12-24DX... :)

Just had a play yesterday and today, wow it's wiiiiiiiiide...... Still gotta get used to it but maybe it's just me but the saturations seems strong :? Still gotta work out the best way for the distortion using spherise, but the first pics look very yummy tho, any WA tips appreciated as it's new to me :D

Anyway, luvin' it and just thought I'd post a couple of quickies for interest in WA's...

These are off the highway from Melbourne on the way past Werribee, there's some really nice "old style" country in that area...

Cheers.

Notice the bird in the top of the tree who was watching me intently... There seemed to be all sorts of birds around, maybe because of the sheep??? My god, this is WIDE angle, he was almost over me...

Lucky you ;) I haven't had a chance to get out and try my new baby yet.

I like these, and they show off nicely the capabilities of this lens (and the main reason I decided to get one too). For landscape work, it sings :)

The first shot is a classic, although (on my screen at least) could do with a slightly darker sky (?). The rock in the foreground provides nice balance, and the lighting is magic. Did I say I like this pic?

For me, I'm looking forward to playing with this lens at the Heritage Workshops on Saturday - I've got a few ideas which will hopefully work :)

Very nice. You make it very tempting...

Nice shots... perhaps on the first one getting down even lower to make the rock more prominent would have been worthwhile?

Will the Sigma outnumber the Nikkor 12-24Dx?
I hope you receive your G1588 tomorrow.

It has been sitting in Melbourne since 10:35am today, waiting for the boys and girls in blue to clear :( . My chances are slim at best :( .
Never mind there is always next time :)

As a fellow owner of the best 12-24 lens  I'd like to welcome you to the club. One thing I'd suggest you get (if you haven't already) is a 77mm CP - works a treat in landscapes with lots of sky and/or cloud.

G'day,
I just about had tears looking at the clouds today without a CPL  I used a CPL on my kit lens a lot for all sorts of outdoor things so I've missed it today, picking one up in Sydney at the meet, but gee the 12-24's a damn sexy piece o' glass eh?

Cheers.

12-24 gets you close. Better to get a 500mm and then have to get further away to get closer.

Hmm yes I think this would do very nicely for shots in the chopper. I'd like to get more instrument panel and people into the shot to convey the experience.

mudder,
Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought and remembered you had 77mm CPL with your 80-400VR.

G'day Birdy,
The filter I got for the 80-400 was a UV to protect the lens but never use it doh!...

Very nice, Andrew. I like that first shot a great deal. :D

That pic is so good, I'd almost think that it came out of a Sigma 12-24. :P

Nikkor vs Sigma is a bit like Mac vs PC. We're all evangelists

Good job none of us take this seriously.

I was very interested in the Sigma 12-24 but I believe it didn't have a front thread, was also very keen on seeing the results from the Tokina 12-24 but bit the bullett and splurged on the Nikkor...

I'm a very happy camper :)
