G'day guys..
Been lurking for a few days now, really fantastic site helping out DSLR and photography newbies like myself. I've only had my D70 a few weeks and _boy_ is it a steep learning curve (but fun at the same time!)
Here's a few shots: one of a building near my uni at night (without a tripod

) and one of Busselton jetty. Criticism more than welcome!

No I'm Spartikus!
Welcome to the board and great first post.
What did you rest the camera on if you didn't have a tripod for the first photo? Surely it can't be handheld for a 8" exposure
The second photo is nice and sharp

To give it a bit more oomph, maybe increase the saturation a bit using photoshop or whichever image editing program you use.
Keep practising and keep posting
PS. Please fill in your location as well (state & country)

Welcome Spartikus - it is always nice to see a first poster with pics that show a very good eye and control of the camera - please keep them coming

Thanks for the comments guys...
I rested the camera on a conveniently located pole protecting the building from ram raids - perfect for the long exposure (I really need a tripod)...
I'm still finding out all the tips with regards to PP, I use Photoshop CS to do all my tinkering..
Cheers

Love the moniker! Welcome Spartikus and no slave revolutions tolerated here. I think you are off to a good start and agree about the steep curve. I try to fit my learning in around family and work. Catch up with Kristine from pixspot, she is in your area although south of Perth. They must have organised a meet by now.

lovely photos mate, especially for a starter
with the 2nd photo that change in the fences height on the left seems to want to pull my eye away from the subject, id have cut out the first 'lower' part of the white fence so then it'd just flow nicely and there be no change to pull the viewers eye but instead to lead the eye like a path to the subject
