Fake looking photo..I was at the zoo yesterday and I took a couple of shots of the Mandrills, this was one that I was quite pleased with until I got my card home and viewed the shot on a larger screen..
http://www.platinumweaver.net/images/mandrill_800.jpg Can anyone tell me why the shot came out like this? All EXIF information should be there if that helps.. PlatinumWeaver / Dean

you mean that white line?
looks a bit like a reflection from behind the glass. i could be wrong though Life's pretty straight without drifting

It doesn't look like the mandrill has been pasted in to anyone else?
Well I won't worry then! PlatinumWeaver / Dean

Looks fine to me PW. Mandrills are supposed be that ugly.
![]() Seriously though, it does look okay. There's enough softness around the primate to negate the pasted image assumption. I think it blends in. Simon

Well it did actually, but I was trying to figure out why - since it obviously wasn't... It was difficult to tell without a larger image, but I just came to the conclusion that it was because the mandrill's arms are in focus and the face was a little soft... Cheers, John

Yeah, you have obviously staged this in your bedroom with some green paper and a stuffed toy.
![]() Either that, or you captured a nice image of a thoughtful mandrill wondering what the hell the black thing hanging off your face might be. Anyhoo, I like it. Greg - - - - D200 etc

G'day Dean,
I was wondering what the issue was with the image... With the power of suggestion (ie: now that you mention it) it does look a little like that, maybe it's just because the Mandrill's sharp with OOF areas around her??? Aren't they just the coolest animals??? Called in there early this morning (destress from work, gee, and I'm back here at work again!) and ended up at the gorillas and mandrills for the morning, they just freak me out... Hard to call a Mandrill cute, but the young one's terrific... I think he's only about 3 weeks old. How was the trip??? Cheers, Mudder Aka Andrew
Thanks guys. Cropping would definately help, yes. I blew the highlights quite badly on the log directly in front of him/her, this shot is already a merger of two exposures (thanks NC ) so that the worst of it is reduced..
Mudder, trip went well.. photos at... http://www.platinumweaver.net/gallery/Holidays/South_Africa/index.php Thanks everyone else! PlatinumWeaver / Dean

I work at a large IT company as the Problem Mgr for the System that a large telecoms company (I have to be careful here) uses to sell products like ADSL/Broadband etc. to public and ISPs. Boy, could I tell you some stories about why some people suddenly lose ADSL connectivity etc...! Gotta be careful here... Dean, just going through those shots now, wow... this I love... ![]() I'm sooooooooooo jealous..... How's your family you went over to see? All OK...? Cheers, Mudder Aka Andrew
Thanks man - The family is fine, getting on a bit but I guess that's to be expected..

That's a great monkey shot Dean! Just checked out your SA photos. Very cool! You got a Serval out in the open which is very unusual. The buffalo close up is great and that little elephant.

If you're looking for someone to carry your gear then give me a call.. all I need is a week's notice and a plane ticket.. You guys were planning on buying the ticket for me weren't you? ![]() That serval was such a pain, it was very very dark when I took that shot and the autofocus was having a very hard time.. oh well.. better than not having seen it at all.. PlatinumWeaver / Dean
Asking the Stupid Questions <a href="http://www.platinumweaver.net/" alt="PlatinumWeaver Homepage">http://www.platinumweaver.net/</a>
Oh yeah...the ticket. The money tree has run out unfortunately.
![]() I think the serval shot is nice. Better than others I have seen. Nicole
