Birddog was kind enough to make his D2x available at today's mini-meet and I took the opportunity to take a few shots with my CF card in the back... I made sure that I had the neckstrap on at all times...

In a blatant copy of Matt K's idea from last week, I took a shot of the headlight of Birdy's VW... The photo were taken with the Nikon 17-35mm f2.8D @ 100ISO, 1/640, f3.2...

I took a 100% crop out of the middle and you can clearly identify me taking the photo... You can also enlarge this crop to about 300% before it starts to lose any detail:

Another crop, shows the detail of the surround:

I took the crops after converting to JPG, otherwise I'm sure that they would have been even clearer...

WhooHoo!! It's a pretty amazing piece of gear isn't it Leek. I also had a play with the same camera and lens combo. I took a photo of Birdy and blown up to 100%, the detail is nothing short of amazing. You can see the dust on his glasses :shock:

As you can imagine, such extreme closeups are rarely flattering (every pore and blood vessels in the eye clearly visible), so I won't post it unless Birdy doesn't mind.

And what about the viewfinder compared to the D70, just fantastic :wink:

Matt, you think that's scary? Remember that crop represents only about 2% of the original image, you should see the other 98% :shock:

Yes, the D2x club currently has 4 members (two members from this forum) and 2 from outside.
