St. Albans Abbey through the Roman wall

Just my luck, of course - I set out on a mission to Verulamium park in bright sunshine, by the time I got there it had clouded over. Grr.

Here's my attempt to rescue the hopelessly dull original; any thoughts ?

Did I overdo it ? Obviously an improvement, but not 100% sure it's not too much.

looks kinda green on my screen...

If you shot RAW, then you could try changing the WB setting in Capture or Photoshop... If you set it to Cloudy it usually brightens things up...

Select the sky and the view through the hole in the wall and add contrast. Inverse the selection and do a curves adjustment on the wall (arch) - in this way you will bring up the wall without affecting the sky or the hole but will have increased contrast on the Abbey.
