Macro Critters

I found some more interesting subjects this afternoon, this moth was impressive.

105mm 1/500 f/32, flash

Then this nice little Preying Mantis was looking for dinner, it was a fast mover and hard to catch

Then things got a bit extreme, this ant is only ~5mm long, the droplet is only 1mm across, and needing a bit more DOF I resorted to the 55mm macro and extension ring + TC201 teleconverter to give me 3:1 magnification.

1/400 f/~64, flash

HOLY SH*T!! That is one huge moth.
Oh wait, I thought he was sat atop a bald mans head. :D

Wow, that first one caught me with the finger skin clearly visible.... Great detail in these, I can see why this macro world can be fascinating

Top shots mate, i guess the moth has no night vision tonight? also thats one ugly prey mantis, what happened to the nice green ones??

just friendly I think, theres been a few of them around lately... actually I can see 2 more of them on the outside of the window right now, maybe they heard about the bright flash and want to try it out for themselves
