first is a crop
as for tthe temp .. yeah i might cool it a little ... its saturated from the original, shadows boosted a little (preserving the highlight)

if youre referring to the christian fletecher stuff ... i think the shots of his that i really like are very dark, wet, and reflective shots ... ie, shots which can be pushed really far, without appearing to be muddy. Lots of nice reflections etc.
im happy with mine though !!

As the sun beams started poking through and a fairly eerie colour (which ive boosted) started to show ... i was quietly taking back those mutterings of disgust & figured hey what the heck, its something different tot he usual blue sky polarised look

You should print and frame some of those with a Matt border...
Thats what I have been spending today doing... Bought 7 frames and matts... (2 off the shelf and waiting as the framers make 5 more)
The two that I have done (one of them being the comp 1 prize winner) look 100% better framed up...
Makes a picture into an artwork (good framing that is)

yeah im going to get some framed ... ive got various shots framed around my house already ... i ALWAYS select my own bevelled matt border and frame to colours that i think match the photo.

Can you tell me the settings/equipment you used to take these?
I'd be really happy if you said it was either the 50mm f1.8 or the cheapo 28-80 G series lens - but I guess not! (these are the only lenses I have)

Posted: Mon Mar 28, 2005 2:36 pmCharlie : D70 (duh!) ... cheapass Tamron 28-300 XR lens, Circular Polariser (not too effective), Cokin Grad ND gray Soft Stop (i think its soft stop.) to tame the sky .... intermediate saturation (selected channels.), levels, and usual USM sharpening.
Differing settings for different shots. Some of the slow ones were down around 2 seconds. F22 etc. Others (the ones which dont have motion blurring) were just shot in A-mode, sitting on around F8, metering from there. I did flick to manual numerous times aswell after the camera got the metering wrong.
Sitting on a manfrotto tripod.
It waas quite a cloudy gray day but yeah, pseudo photog-loving god turned it on this time ! (though im agnostic, but i make allowances when things are going my way!)
I saw 3 other d70's that day! Also a 20D with a seriosu piece of L glass on it, the young asian lady was having trouble holding it.

Posted: Mon Mar 28, 2005 11:31 pmDarb, when I was in the UK during winter I found the most best shots (well the ones I liked) were the ones with dramatic clouds and sunlight poking through. Sometimes a shot with a clear blue polarised sky can be quite run of the mill, put some clouds and a bit of sunlight and it makes the shot. I had that hand of god type of image over the yorkshire moors.
