Hi Dave-D40, as a fellow newbie, welcome to the forum as well. Shots were take from the roof of apartments at waterside near Bulcock Beach, Caloundra one day when a huge depression had a strong, steady and constant southerly wind sweeping across Bribie Island and Pumicestone Passage. The Pelican was "ridge soaring" the deflected air mass over the shorline apartments practically all day. He/she flew hundreds of kilometers back and forth that day without so much as flapping a wing. I also fly gliders and do this occacionally when conditions suit against a long range of hills and it is the closest thing to perpetual motion you'll experience. Glad you liked the pics.

Don't you know it!?! I've got some more fantastic shots from this shoot, but the plane owner doesn't want me releasing then just yet. I've printed one shot up to 1600mm x 1200mm and is mounted in the owners hanger behind his two planes. I'll post it here sometime soon. Air to air is tuff stuff -- looking through lenses while cavorting around the sky can really upset your internal gyros!!!
