One Last Pussy

I know that you're not a group of cat lovers, but I still wanted to share this one of SnowBoots with you.

Sorry that it's a little soft, but it's a crop that's only 1/6th of the full frame width and the first time I've shot anything with this lense which arrived at 6pm last night. The 85mm f1.8 is capable of better than this, but I still think it's a nice pic.

Good pic SoCalSteve - captured her in a moment of alertness (or character?) and it does come out clearly in the portrait.

Minor point- on my screen the tops of her paws look a little overblown?

Actually, in Camera Raw only two very tiny dots on each paw measured 255 or full white. It might not be bad to do some highlight recovery on it anyway, though. Thanks for the observation.

I am a cat lover not many here, and the name of 'Snowboots' is so applicable. The thing I like about cats is that they have 'attitude' and then when you least expect it they are you best friend. Sleep next to your feet or on your lap. They are also selfish, and although many people want admit so are we from time to time.

I will give you 7/10 for the shot, as a tad on the soft side. I am sure you do better next time.

Here is a link to a picture of my very active kitten Mia while she was jumping around in my light tent about two months ago. The Devon Rex has limited down (they do not have fur) which will get thicker as she gets older.

Cute cat. From the photograph the breed appears to have larger than normal ears and a long tail. Or is this beacuse of the anlgle the picture was shot. I would be interested to see more picture of her when older and thicker down.

FYI: this is 'Jess' a 13 yo Persian - Russian Blue cross and spolied. Will only eat Seakist Tuna in Brine that is sometimes difficult to buy at supermarkets. She also loves sleeping on her cardboard box:

The large ears and long tail are a feature on the cat.

Mia is also a bit "spoilt". She eats tuna in spring water and veal.

My camera is in for some surgery this week but I will take a more recent picture of what she looks like when I receive it back.

Both very nice pictures and very cute, interesting and fun looking pets. Your little avatar doesn't do that one justice at all. Has anyone ever seen a cat sit like Monty before?

I judge each of my five animals on their own merits. I have a second cat that I am more than willing to box up and mail to any of you that will take her (but my wife likes her). The rest of the zoo includes one terrier-poodle mix who's a sweetheart and two Guinea pigs.

Yeah it's weird. It's his favourite sitting position and when he's not sleeping he often sits like that watching you. It can be pretty spooky, what with his flat face and all, it's like a little furry person is staring back at you

I had a black cat called Monty back in the seventies during the first marriage. (Named after Monty Python's Flying Circus) (The cat, not the marriage - despite any incidental similarities)

However, that's many moons ago.

Lily (current cat, see above) sits like your Monty does sometimes - we are pretty much used to it now, but I guess it does look a bit odd. Mind you cats are pretty odd creatures - it is a big part of their charm.

Cat owners will appreciate this.....

Ha! I know who rules the household now! My daughter has one, aptly named "frog" and he is a boss cat alright.

I am allergic to cat and dog hair but for thise who did not know, Devon Rex cats are ideal for people who have cat hair allergies because they are non-allergenic and hardly have any hair on them at all.

On the other hand, if you are allergic to dog hair, poodles grow wool (yep - just like sheep) and are great dogs to own. You'd have to fall in love with my poodle below!

Didn't know that about poddles. Always assumed people allergic to dog & cat hair could only have bald pets like the Rex or those strange speckly chinese dogs.
