Is it just me or are the blacks in the foreground trees a little too black?

Absolutely Onyx but the sensor had a lot to cope with and I exposed for the foreground trees with regard to definition and ignored the black as I felt that it was not too overpowering

Great pic Chris... A mini-tad soft maybe, but still brings home the atmosphere of that area... I hope to get some good shots from Blackheath on the Jenolan weekend in March...
Actually - your shot reminds me a lot of the Copper Canyon in Mexico... a very little known canyon - even if it is 6 times as large as the Grand Canyon... Highly recommended to all travellers / photographers...

i had to look twice, could have been a scene from the bottom of the sea, add a blue photo filter and you have an instant underwater picty!
well done!

This picture is surreal. You've done a wonderful job but I bet it's nothing compared to what it was like to sit there and stare at it. I stare at your picture and I'm trying to pretend being there and dissapointed that I'm not, and please take that as my highest compliment. Terrific picture.

Dave - it is a place that is very popular in NSW and the changing light can give you so many definitions of what is a very beautiful place

Personally I think it is a very good effort to capture a very difficult subject. Impossible to expose for such a wide range and difficult to get a good really good composition.
