Hello Everyone!
This is my virgin post! I have had my D70 for 6 days, and here are a couple of pics I have taken. Please be nice-I'm still learning, but LOVE this forum.....some of the photos on this site are purely inspirational!
This is my husband's keyboard...
...and sepia guitar.

Welcome Stormgirl - and very nice images. I really appreciate the use of Depth of Field on both shots. Especially the guitar.
And only had the camera for 6 days - we will be looking forward to some sensational posts from you in the future. Some great storm shots perhaps
Keep posting
Cheers,

Thankyou for the warm welcome!
To be honest, I think I took the easy road and shot both in Auto, and I thought the keyboard shot could have had a slightly larger DOF, but that is the wonders if digital photography, you can take as many as you like on different settings to get the disired result, and delete the rest!!
Looking forward to taking heaps more, and getting to know my D70! I'm yet to try out the 70-300 G lens I got with the twin lens kit....maybe on the weekend!!
...and yes, JordanP, hopefully some storm shots!!

Erm... "Forum"??
Welcome stormygirl! Nice shots - have fun playing with your camera. It's a definite steep learning curve, isn't it?!

Yes, it is a VERY steep learning curve, but at least no film/developing costs are wasted in the process! (just a huge amount to outlay in the beginning!)

Welcome StormyGirl.
You'll like it here, but only if you like expert and honest advice mixed with a healthy dose of friendly rivalry and a sprinkle of humour.
Love the shots too - but I've always been a sucker for a Strat (or even a good copy).

Thankyou everyone for the fabulous welcome!
Manta: The Strat aint no copy! She's the real deal!
sirhc55: Yes, Husband does like music! So do I, but a microphone is a little boring in a photo unless you have a macro (which I don't
ATM!)
I'm looking forward to posting heaps - as much as free web space will allow me to - and receiving some constructive critisism, as I think it's a great way to learn and develop new techniques!

Very nice, and I agree that a little more depth of fielf would serve you nicely on both of these. Although I'm a Gibson man myself good pictures of guitars are always nice to look at. It's a little more compelling because of the lines that lead you into the picture. The Keyboard is nice, but the lines aren't as prominent. I think also that the keyboard would look better if the corner in the top right wasn't in, and the entire keyboard filled the frame.
EDIT
of course this isn't something I do really well, more something that I simply notice when I look at pictures after the fact.

Hi Stormygirl! Welcome!
Two talents! All I can do is take photos.. tried/still trying the guitar but have not really got past the basics...

Hi Dooda,
Yes I agree with you on the top right corner of the keyboard pic - it shouldn't be there! If you knew the position I was in to take the photo you might understand why it is there!!!

But I still think it's not bad for a newbie....will get better! Practise makes perfect, as they say!! I'd just like a little more time to play!!

Oh, I should have clarified, it is a pretty minor little thing that I mentioned, and doesn't detract from the photo at all. I agree, it is very good for a newbie. I just wanted to find something about the photo, as sometimes you want to hear more than simply "good photo" type stuff (not that there's anything wrong with that.
Besides, its a lot easier to spot it on another person's photo than to spot it when you're actually taking the shot. Sorry if I looked a little nitpicky (even though I was I guess).

Family.
Nice shots, and it's good to see yet more musically inclined (that's someone who plays their music while leaning,
btw) people join us.
Please make sure that you and your hubby read
this thread, and also try to make it down to Lygon St on Friday next for the Mini meet and pizza.

Maybe a new thread idea ??
My two favourite guitar
models would have to be the Gibson SG and the Fender Jaguar.
Love 'em both.

Hi gstark,
The strat is 1995 made in USA. We think it is a tri colour sunburst with maple neck. Sounds bloody lovely through a Laney amp!

Sorry Stormy - no offence intended! It was difficult to tell from the angle that's all. Now, if I'd HEARD it ... different story!

G'day,
Just catching up with some of the threads so welcome to the forum
Taking these after only having the D70 for 6 days shows a creative eye, I assume you're not new to photography just new to the D70?
Great to have another Melbournite
Cheers,
Mudder

There were no real strats made in 1995. None have been made for wuite some time.
Says he with a 77 USA fretless P-Bass
Who says I'm a snob?
In all seriousnes, sounds nice. Leigh's younger brother has recently acquired a beautiful Gretsch White Falcon, and he runs it through a Fender Bassman.
This guitar is probably one of the most mose beautiful I've seen or played. The finish is immaculate.
And we're way off-topic.
As if I care.
