Cropped to 1800 x 1350 (from 3008 x 2000) and resized. Small (GN: 22 m) manual flash hanging over the lens.

Nikkor Micro 60mm, f/25, 1/250", ISO 200.

here is a challenge...... uncropped image, and available light....... this is really a challenge to see how good your trigger finger can be, as these little buggers are quick....... but I am very impressed with your shot above, worth a big print....

here is a hint for your next flash shot, flash a little higher and more behind the bee so it is more top and back lit, higher will just flatten out the light, and moving it back should add a different WOW factor bit like rim lighting..... keep the dark B/G, and tilt the flast back to camera a bit...... you might need an exposure ajustment for this shot......

My "problem" (if you can call it that) is I only have a 60mm lens.

It is only a 1:1 lens, so full frame cover 23.9 x 15.6mm. A bee (at least the ones I was shooting today) isn't much more than 10mm so won't fill much of the frame. Even to get that close will have the end of the lens only 7cm from the bee which will be tricky. I do have a PK-13 tube so I can do better than 1:1, but that's going to put me right on top of the bee, plus I will lose light.

You at least have a 105mm lens which can get to 1:1 a bit further away than my 60mm. The p-11 will reduce some of that, but I think you'll probably still be further away than my 60mm.

After doing some testing this morning with my TC-201, I may be able to attempt some full (DX) frame shots. Now to find some bees in my backyard.
