Loving the 300 VR !

A couple of backlit Ostrich from a recent Taronga visit.

Hi Rooz

f/2.8 lens @ f/5.6, however she's just as sharp wide open too :wink:

how much did you get it for incidently and how long have you had it ?

Bought from Poon late last year for $5600.
With the better A$ it's around $5K now :roll:

its one of my long term investment plans. whats the sharpness like compared to the 70-200 ? (sorry to hijack the thread, PM me if you like). :oops:

As good as the 70-200 is, it doesn't compare to the 300 VR IMHO.
It's recognised by most as Nikon's sharpest.
And at 2.8kg's be prepared to get fit ! :lol:
I'll be putting it to the test in Zambia (SLNP 17 nights) in 6 weeks.

very nice. I love the 70-200, but can see the difference in these at 300 prime!

have you used the 200mm f2? its closer to my focal length usage.

I haven't had the pleasure of using the 200 VR, however, I believe it compares pretty well to the 300 in regards to sharpness & bokeh.
