Im not one for portraits or much post processing, so enjoy it while it is here. :)

I wanted to test the 50mm f/1.4 lens before I go clicky clicky on the weekend at a friend of the wife's wedding. Never done a wedding before, only taken about 15 shots with the 50mm lens and they have told me the light wont be too flash (pardon the pun). Thought I better have a crack.

Light is from 2 monitors in front of me. Held the camera at arms length. Aperture priority, ISO 400 and bang.

Used the B&W adjustment in CS3 and bumped the contrast.

Pity I didnt nail the focus. Ah well, a bit blurry probably helps. Doris Day filter anyone?

Thoughts?

Norbs - I love it! There is a refreshing feel of 'well, this is me!' to it. It's a setup portrait which has a feeling of candidness to it. Was this at 1.4? The DOF looks too big for that. The focus isn't too bad, the main part of your face is in focus and it could have been purposely created like this...right? :)

Good luck at the wedding, be prepared!

Yup. f/1.4 it was. Manual focus from memory. I need longer arms to get my whole boofhead in to frame.

Prepared :?: :?: Im going with the thinking "take enough shots, and I might jag a few nice ones for them" :) BTW. Im not being paid to do it, dont panic.

Not a bad portrait, nicely framed and exposed! I'd like a tad more DOF, though. But good nevertheless. Looks just like your avatar ;)

Cheers
Steffen.
