available light under the harsh sun

shot it cooler white balance for a more edgy feel
even though the fashion was actually quite girly Fleur Wood
i like the reflection of the steel bar in the hair

backstage at Josh Goot
one of the most edgy shows at Fashion Week very futurist inspired designs
problem with Josh Goot is that his shows get the most media attention so i didnt really have a chance to take too many photos backstage, too many photographers, backstage was at a warehouse with beautiful HMI constant lights great ambience, also shot this with a cooler white balance
Image

makeup prep, available light, 85mm at f1.4 notice the beautiful light disks and creamy bokeh
Image

backstage at Jessie Hill, theres 3 light sources on this one the ambient tungstens hair light my 2nd sb800 on slave held by my assistant Fab and fill flash from my sb800 attached to the sc29 cord

They are just spectacular. The one through the mirror with the 84mm 1.4 is definatley my fav - I am a huge sucker for B&W with a good bokeh.

Wendell,

I'm always impressed with your work. Your passion really comes through in the way you do these fashion shows.

Love the first and third. Just a little nit on the third, she has a bit of a reflection of light just under her teeth, I find that a bit distracting, but still a great photo.

thanks for sharing,

André

The first three are fantastic - the exposure on the model in the third is perfect, and the use of lighting and WB in the first two really add to the shots.

Well done, Wendel

#1 and #3 are outstanding and deserve a join POTW (if that becomes a trend after last week, lovely stuff). Really up there IMO with some of your finest work.

#2 and #4 don't have the same appeal to me, neither meet the usual high Wendell standards I expect from you, but in that sense I'm a tough critic and alway expect POTW worthy images from you.

#1 - Stunning shot - up there with your best - edgy WB but I can certainly live with it.

#2 - A tad too much backlight let this one down - almost there though.

#3 - Stunner - well composed - lovely bokeh - I would like a tad more contrast.

#4 - Your flash in the background lets this one down a bit - otherwise a great backstage shot

Well done as usual Wendell.

Cheers, Mick :) :) :)

I guess you're tired of hearing this, but they are simply too good :D

Was #2 shot with the 85mm? The purple/blue fringe next to her ear looks a bit too strange to me...

hi thankyou all for your gracious comments

yip

number 2 is taken with the 85mm usually when i get optical effects like flair im happy even though conventional tastes warrant that their technical mishaps

i think the flare adds artistic ambience to the image
