From my Japanese trip last year

Do you dig the selective colour like me or is it not your cup of tea?

I think the coloured one Steve, the colours in the background are muted enough for me that the red stands out already.

Since you ask, it isn't my cup of tea, but selective colour with monochrome seldom is - are the reds that colour naturally or did you paint them in PS?

I do appreciate that the Buddhas may have been lost in the background otherwise.

About a 10point sat boost on the reds, i will look into toning them down.

Cheers for letting me know though. Whilst no-one likes hearing that their work is no pleasing, I appreciate this kind of comment (learning experience).

Whilst I am sure you do, bear in mind that it is not so much a comment on your photo or technique, but more my preference. :D

I think your work is pleasing, it was just a matter of the colour being more pleasing than the selective colour :P

i like the colour one. as previously stated the background isnt dominant to begin with and the stark contrast with the bright red is enough.

I would say the colour version simply because the other version looks a tad fake - the red is too dominant, if toned back the second shot could work better
