Went for a stroll through the Botanic Gardens this afternoon and gave my new Canon 70-200 F4 lens a workout in overcast/dappled light. I stayed on F4 all afternoon and used a tripod to keep things steady. (Wife carried tripod, a good deal... 8) )

Not yet Bernie, haven't had time. I suppose these flowers have been photographed a million times but I always enjoy them. The 70-200 lens is razor sharp and a lot of fun to shoot with.

the isolation of the flower/s created by the contrast bathed in that slip of gorgeous light against that dark background is so poignant and beautiful,
a lovely mystique and gentlesness is most evident in the 1st 2
2nd one being the best
great work!

Thanks for the comment Wendell, yes I think #2 is my fav. I had thought it might have been better without the 2nd flower, but then again, twin flowers are maybe more interesting than just a single stem. Ozi.

I like #2 as well, and last one deserves a tighter crop for less distracting background :)

#2 definately the one for me.

Is it the IS version of the 70-200L? If so did you try any handheld shots? Would like to know how well it works on an overcast day with relatively still subjects.

Number 1 and 2 are just gorgeous the natural lighting and isolation are just perfect maybe a tighter crop on the first.

No Dave, I couldn't afford the IS version, but I like using a tripod so no problems there.
