Some shots from my weekend sojourn with Mr & Mrs Birddog, Mr & Mrs Matt K, Mr and Mr Stark (Gary & Leigh) at birdy's Boat Harbour holiday home. All are from around the Port Stephens area (near Newcastle). All shots were taken with the 24-120 VR.

This shot was suggested to me by Matt K.

Great stuff Peter, did you have the CPL on for all these shots, could just be my LCD (it continually proves to be too bright) but the sky in a few of these could be blue for my taste. I think Faded Glory is my favourite followed by shot #1, I'm a fan of shooting through something to get to your subject, and its a reoccuring technique in my shots.

Hi Peter, the tranquil boat scene doesn't seem to have anything special, but it absolutely does it for me. I also like the flag shot, the cloud constellation works well and the symbolism is great.

Number 1 doesn't quite work for me, I suppose the silhouette doesn't have an interesting enough shape, and looks more like an obstruction. Or maybe the background is too plain and doesn't really try to break through?

Anyway, it looks like I should be going to Newcastle more often...

another set of very nice images from you. It seems that you all had an amazing time on the weekend.

I'm not sure if it's my LCD screen here at work, but all the images seem to be quite "blue" looking. Was this intentional to fit the theme, is it my LCD monitor or is it your monitor

That flag looks like it has seen quite a few sea-breezes.....

Craig - yes CP for all and yes I probably over did the blue. I've just rebuilt my PC and haven't yet calibrated my CRT monitor. ALl these had a yellow cast straight out of the camera and I corrected that a little too zealously I suspect. Plus I have tendency to do blue shots anyway cos I like the colour.

Steffen - the boat scene had something for me too. I think it's the clouds

Max - Boat Harbour is about 30 minutes drive north of Newcastle

Dave - see my comments above to Craig. The overdone blue was not completely intentional.
