went to wollemi national park today and was walking along a creek when I came upon a small clearing with a family of wood ducks lying around.
I was lying in the dirt for a while and they seemed to forget about me and go about their business.

there were 2 adults and 2 juveniles. This is a juvenile.
I couldnt help myself cos I thought this was soooo cute.
mother duck did see me and seemed like she was going to attack me but not before I got a few shots off.

Yep, it's a cutie. It's a good clear, sharp photo. How far away were you from the little fella when you took this shot?

Marco: I think the npws guys would have a bit to say about the shotgunners.

Steve this is a great wood duck photo. Makes a nice portrait. Background works really well. I saw a family of 20 of these guys one time.

thanks nicole,

I really like this.
I have another with it looking 3/4 towards the camera also.
I took about 30 odd shots of this family from the prone position and they only really became alarmed when I tried to get closer for some wider angle stuff.
mother duck really looked angry. have a few of that too!! I moved away then and all was well.
This was a great place to see birds.
Saw kookaburras, king parrots, glossy black cockatoos (annoyed that I didnt get a shot of these.) I see all these sulphur crested ones and heard them flying my way and assumed it was them. @ point blank range (less than 3 metres the glossy blacks went by and all I could do was point the 400 in the general direction and swear!)
all sorts of stuff.
