Still on my portrait phase at the moment viewers.
This time Sam agreed to model for me and has graciously allowed me to post them. Once again would appreciate feedback on the style as much as the composition and lighting etc.

Yes, definetly a more attractive model this time

I like number three the most. I dont like the crop on the first two, a partial amount of the mouth detracts from them I think. Either the whole face or the eyes and nose only. But thats just my thoughts. The lighting in all four is really good!

I like number three because the 'crop' is right (for my likings), the photo has an intimimate feel to it, as does your models expression, also the bit of bra strap makes it seem more intimimate (or maybe I'm just a perv).

Nice images mate.

Raskill,

Thanks for the comments.
Number 3 has the most alluring feel to it I think but I don't neccessarily think it's the best shot. The eye contact is good and the bra strap adds that intimate aspect, but I prefer number 1 personally. Not sure if it's because I am too close to the images but i didn;t even see the crop. I have got to learn to have an unbiased eye and judge the images on their content.

Many thanks again.

I like the hat in 1 and 2 - I think it adds an element of modeling to what could be simply snapshots otherwise. I prefer #2 as it's in focus. I don't think much of shooting close and out of focus. I'm not entirely convinced about the crop through the mouth - I'd have preferred no mouth or full mouth.

#3 works heaps better than 4 for me as she's looking up with a more interesting facial expression - adds intrigue. #4 Sam looks to casual, and lighting catches her wrong.

P.S. Matt - you might have to find a less noisy lounge.

With due respect to Sam, who is very beautiful, these shots are no where as good as the shots of yourself.

IMO #3 and #4 are bad angles that do not flatter, sorry.

#1 - the OOF factor does not IMO work with the right hand side being so dark.

#2 just does not work - the crop through the lips draws my eyes to this constantly.

I also noticed that in every shot Sam’s eyes are looking straight at the camera - this is OK, sometimes, but very often having the eyes looking slightly to the side or even down creates a better effect.

You can beat me up on Saturday Matt

I like the eye contact in #3. I liken them to 'come to bed eyes' so its a bit sexy.

#4 is a bad angle.

I prefer the lighting of the eyes in #2 to #1. More "white" in the left eye but the right cheak looks a bit hot in #2.

Good to see you experimenting! And lucky you to have models to shoot.

I agree with Chris and Willy Wombat your self portraits were brilliant. These photos of clearly an attractive young woman are not flattering. #1 and #2 have potential but like the rest the perspective is not quite right. Good sharpness in the eyes in #2 but with these type of shots, IMO, you either focus on the eye as a band of interest or not. It seems #1 and #2 there is either too much showing of the face or not enough.

There ia a warmth, intimacy or softness, if you like, in all the photos that is very attractive. I dare say the model plays a considerable role in this. :)
cheers
