Here is a photo taken the other day at Naas Valley south of Canberra. Was able to walk right up to him but he was starting to get a bit "angry" - you can him starting to swell up his chest and his hairs are on end. This downsized photo doesn't give the original justice as on that one you can clearly see the hairs standing out. For a look and any comments if you wish. Regards, Steve

Nice and sharp Steve and I like the DOF u have used in this with the other roo's nicely OOF in the background. What lens were u using and what physical distance were u from this great Aussie jumper?

Thanks Geoff. I was getting too close for comfort - only about 5 meters.

The lens was nothing special - a Sigma DC 18-125 : 3.5-5.6 with Dof at about 3.5 and I think at 125mm. My kit lens died in an accident earlier this year and this was the substitue... But it takes some good shots.

You've done well with the substitute..do yourself a favour, get the 70-200VR :) You won't regret it, but perhaps your wallet/wife will :)

Well done Wombat lovely crisp portrait. :) Like the perspective OOF kangaroos in background are visually well marginalised but a clean green OOF background woould have been stronger and getting subject to look down the barrel of the lens always produces more impact, all things being equal, maybe next time
cheers
