Jethro, yup pretty happy with the Sigma 80-400 lens...allows excellent composition without having to move the feet too much. As it is an OS lens, means I dont use a tripod or monopod, which gives me much more freedom to compose quickly..

OS = optically stabilized, Sigma equivalent of VR

Yes, the Sigma lens is great. It allows much more flexibility and is capable of sharp, well contrasted shots. I was looking at the Canon 100-400 IS lens but could not go past the Sigma for the price and the slight extra at the bottom end...
