Drifting

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

I went to Mallala hoping that i would come back with some decent pics....however i didnt notice that ISO was on 1000 until it was too late :evil: :evil: :evil:

Reading some of the previous post, i said that it probably wouldnt happen to me.....Wrong!

Anywho, here is one that turned out o-k-a-y-i-s-h :?

BlackWater - I really like this shot - unusual angle and action - but it does give me vertigo :) (or car sickness :wink: )

Thanks Rel, i found it was easier to pan with the camera on that angle.

BW, i have done this many a time, and well i cant say it wont happen again but i think you got a great shot there so it made up for it.

I've messed up the ISO like that quite a few times. lol

Is there a way to get rid of the graininess using PS?? Becuase some of the other shots look quite good but are ruined becuase of that :cry:

I keep hearing mention of a program called noiseninja but I've yet to find a really effective method of removing noise in photshop itself.

Not sure if the Nikon is the same but its a bug bear i have with my cam along with all canon digis is that i wish they put the ISO on permanant display on the readout on the top of the cam like a film SLR so that its in your face all the time .

Thanks Tony, Yeah you have to press the ISO button to actually see whats its on :? I think it would be great if it displayed it in the viewfinder along with the others (Shutter spd, Aperture etc)

It wasent until i was on the way back to Adelaide looking at the EXIF....ISO 1000 !!!! :evil: :shock: :cry:

Good capture and timing Min. I think the perspective enhances the concept of drifting :)
I use noiseninja when i need to and it's very good I think one of the best around.

Even though most of the pics didnt turn out as i hoped, it was a good chance for me to work on my panning technique...practice does make perfect :D

Blackwater - having a high iso is not a problem at all if the exposure is correct and it would appear to be so in this very nice pic :)

I use Neat Image, which is a plug-in used from Photoshop....and I find it works great.

Sometimes if it smoothes the detail too much (and I cannot be bothered playing around with customising all the settings), I add a duplicate layer, then run Neat Image, then vary the opacity until it gives me the result I like the most...

I haven't used Noise Ninja to compare, though I have heard it is a great package... BTW..nice photo. This should have been a Challenge 7 Entry !

Thanks Dave, il try that out. I didnt enter the picture because when it is enlarged, the graininess is quite visible :cry:
