A very unusual image. I think we all would like to know more about it. What is happening there? How did you take the photo? It looks like a scene from a movie. Thanks for posting.

nice atsmosphere shot. Great capture.

I have just joined forum tonite after purchasing D50. Still learning to use after many years of simple film photography. Dave

Welcome to the forum Dave... Is your forum name short for daffy duck, or is it the Welsh version of your real name... If the latter, then Croeso

Taro... Your last few image posts have been outstanding... keep it up...
Tell us the story behind this one...

Welcome Dave - great to have you as part of our very friendly community. If you could please put your geographical location in your profile it would be greatly appreciated. Not only does it mean that you may have someone who lives just around the corner from you that also frequents here but also gives a more close knit neighbourly feel about our forum even though you may live thousands of km's away! Enjoy your stay! (and your new toy!). :D

Thanks for all your comments on this pic. Taking this pic was as weird as looking at it!! This was taken at a music festival in England called the Big Chill. It's a three day chilled out, relaxed festival with the most awesome vibe I've ever experienced. Anyway this picture was taken around 3am in the morning. I was pretty drunk, and was stumbling back to my tent after seeing some of the music acts. Near where I was camping I noticed this lake with ducks swimming surrealy in and out of the fog. I decided to get some duck action and got my tripod out and took the below shot.

Image

I struggled enormously to take this shots as I was very inebriated, but persistence paid off. After a few more shots, out of the corner of my eye I saw a guy arrive at the side of the lake with a big hoop and some washing up liquid. This guy worked on one of the stalls at the festival and makes his living making bubbles and selling bubble making toys. I've never seen bubbles as big as the ones this guy was making. The setting was incredible too, with the sound of deep bass in the distance and the bubbles evanescing into the fog. A truly memorable night and my first explorations into 1600 ISO territory as well.

Wow, that first photo is quite something, almost creepy, as is the second, well captured, however, I don't want to burst your bubble but they won't always be this good!

Max :D

Nice image Taro :D

As an aside, we try to keep images at 800 pixels wide at the longest length. That one is 1155 x 768 which means it is harder on the dial up and for most people who dont have a screen wider than 1155 they have to scroll to see the image and all text in the thread which can become a pain in a long thread
