This is the first time I've REALLY given the 70-200VR a good go. None of these have been sharpened out of the camera. Show us yours mate!

Great work Geoff, top shots here. You've added more fuel to the fire that is my lens lust, although I may have to solider on with the 70-300G a bit longer.

My favs are 1, 4, 5, 6. I loved the patterned roof and took a few shots of it while up on the bridge, but I think I prefer you take on it

As a newbie to the area I was just wondering how often, to what level (ie setting) and why you use the in camera sharpening. I presume this is what you refere to in your comment. sorry if this naive.

Rookie - thanks for your comments.
What I meant was that I didn't enhance the shot in photoshop to sharpen these images. No in camera sharpening either...just a nice lens (I used primarily the 50mm 1.4 and the 70-200VR 2.8 today).

The EXIF data from shot 4 in this series was:

Focal Length 70mm
Aperture Priority
F2.8 1/4000th sec
ISO 250

I love these even more realising that they come straight from the camera - the sharpness is what grabs me.
can you post one or two taken with the 50mm 1.4. I have it and would like to try out some shots to compare.
nothing comensates for experience but at least I have a good measuring stick.

That moon looks great! And I know you had a max of 200mm of reach, so it must have been a pretty tight crop - and still looks sharp!

I took one of the opera house and the moon in 1 frame, it was barely a 10 pixel speck.

Some great varied shots Geoff... It's really nice to see something other than portraits from you

I can't believe that no sharpening was applied for some of those...
