Cheeky Hyenas

Thought I might post up some trip photos again before I go pick up my new macro toy tonight (Thanks Birddog!). We were lucky to have a hyena den located near one of our camps. There were two young hyena waiting for the clan to get back one morning. In general the wildlife in Zambia was quite elusive but these hyena were used to the vehicle. One was quite cheeky as you will see from the pic. They don't look so ugly when they're young... Thought I would post up thumbnails (thanks to Leek's post) so click on these for the larger images.

Beautiful shots Nicole! You're right, they're pretty cute when they're young but I wouldn't want to be too close to an adult.

You've really done some fabulous work here using the morning light to your advantage. Well done!

Thanks guys. It was nice that we got to see them when the light was good.

Birddog, I have plenty of orchid photos to share from my trip with the 60mm. However, met my friend for dinner tonight and subjected her and Tony to lots of lens talk. Made them watch me open the new Sigma 180 (still excited)...then I had to explain why it was I needed another macro lens.

These are great Nicole, it's amazing how regardless of the species all baby animals are cute, even these critters... You must have had a ball... Love the inquisitive portrait!
