Great shots, love them all. My fav is the 2nd one with the Dodo car brake locking and BANG up the back of Murphy's. Great colours the V8's make on pictures.
Cheers,
Bill

Thanks folks.
Piro, it was Nikkor 80-400 VR (courtesy of Oneputt, have to save my pennies

)
Bill, I have a few others in the same sequence. He was definately giving him a bit of a touch up.

This is me - green with envy.
#1 - you got to spend lots of time watching the cars
#2 - your shots are awesome.
Ahhhhhhhh.
I particularly like the bumper to bumper shots!

Thanks Mudder and Kinetic.
It is very hard at Surfers to get a spot with no FENCES but still reasonably low down.
Thankfully my hosts at Holiday Inn have a nice gap in the trees from the 2nd floor restaurant. Enabled me to get some nice shots.
In between drinks, prawns, oysters etc. etc.

Tough job but someone's got to do it.

Nice shots Mark . I really like the 2nd shot of Richards and Murphy .The colour looks really bang on it and i like the composition .
The two of Lowndes look like they need a little bit of a bump of contrast/saturation and the McConville shot with the flames looks a bit dark . Did you shoot these RAW or jpeg ?
Looks like it was a great weekend up there . Amazing how they spend a month turning the place upside down and inside out to host that race for one weekend then pack it all away again.

Suberb shots Mark - congratulations on some real pole-position images!
My fav is the side-by-side of Johnson & Kelly.
PS - Don't forget your mates next year!!!

Thanks Tony , Simon,
Tony, Here is another with some of teh adjustments you suggested.
It was very overcast there on Friday. This one seems to be better yellows but I am not so sure about teh blue. Might have overdone it. What do you think.
Shot in Jpeg (mode Ia) to squeeze more in and give faster multi-shot sequences.

Hey Mark . Yep that looks better . I find yellows are a tough colour to rescue when it isn't right straight out of the gun .Over exposed or under.I've had some luck with photoshop using the match colour adjustment .

Slider,
Great shots mate. I know the hassles in getting V8's to look good.
Did you try any panning slow shutter shots?
I like the different angle, makes a nice change from the usual side on shots that most of us poor folk are stuck with
I like the contrast in the Lowndes falcon that you just posted. I find the Supercars look nice with the brightness lowered and contrast pumped up, gives a nice 'magazine' feel to the image.
Well done all round!

Thanks BBJ, Raskill,
Couldn't really get a good position for panning at a slower speed from where I was (without going through the fence). I usually take a few like that to get the nice blurred wheels and background. Great for showjumping too
Got a few from pit lane. This one's at 1/160 @ f/22
