Well I think it was a fair swap. I loaned Oneputt my el cheapo extension tubes and he and Mitedo have been having some fun with them ( as you would have seen on another thread).

In return Oneputt loaned me his Nikkor 80-400 VR and his Sigma Wide Angle.

Like I said, fair swap.

Very nice lens and had a lot of fun at Surfers getting in nice and tight on the Champ Car drivers. All were taken whilst cornering as can be seen by the various busy hand positions.

Weather was rubbish but I will be there tomorrow and it is looking good :D

It was too wet to be wandering around the pits (especially with someone else's lens).

Tomorrow could be good 8)

slider, nice shots. Indy cars are made for photography, so colourful and sleek.

The second one looks a bit soft to me, but maybe thats my eyes. The others are nice and sharp, and despite the restricted angle, still have a sense of speed to them.

Nice, can wait to see the race day shots.

And yes, where are are girls???? :D

slider,
Next time no more loan  arming your new 300VR and you'll be singing all the way to the Indy + there're good opportunities to take candid shots of all the girls hanging around.
Thanks for sharing and keep 'em coming.

Nice shots Mark! Where were you shooting from, a balcony or something? Great stuff, miss the sound of those turbos spooling! 8)

Thanks folks.

They were taken from either the Sirocco Restaurant (lower shots) which has a great spot with no trees, fences or whatever except for Channel 10 film crews but they were fine or from teh 13 th floor balcony.

More coming from today (uploading now so I'll get a few up later on tonight).

Was up above Paul Tracy's pits for the Indy race and then back to Holiday Inn for teh final V8 race. :D

Nice shots mark. Once again proving the quality of the 80-400VR, and of course the guy behind the lens. Great work!
