Last one :) This spider has all of her hatchlings on her back - they carry them around as they do not build a web as such, so actually tend their young.

wow...interesting. I love the depth of field on the shot...not too shallow, just deep enought to cover the subject properly. You really have the focus tight on the eyes...

Rel

This is a great shot. I hate spiders, but the detail here had me getting up close and personal with my monitor

Eeeewww. Spiders I'm okay with but I'm not keen on bazillions of little midget ones.
Nice shot Rel. She looks like she's about to charge you!

What a fantastic study! A bit more DOF would be nice, but dammit, I just love this photo. It's a knockout.

--Chuan PS: Hmm, what's this lump on my neck and why is it suddenly itching?

Wow, the formation of the eyes looks like a human skull!
Great image but very creepy...

I got the fright of my life when I saw this picture. I don't like spiders at all but I must say this is an excellent photo. Great detail!

Genista

Thank you all so much for your positive comments on this shot. DOF is a bit shallow, but at the time I was lying in the middle of the road in the rain, getting down to eye level with the spider, with a neighbouring farmer sitting in his car looking at me like I was nuts :) (maybe he's right ? )

Paul - didn't realise the skull thing was happening - you've freaked me out - I just keep going back and looking at it......
have to take some more shots to see if the same thing is happening ... or maybe it is the shrunken skull of someone else who took photos of the evil spider and her devilish offspring??????
