Moon Pic - Link FixedWell recently with the clear sky over Perth, I tried taking my first moon pic with a lens recently purchased, Nikkor ED 28-200 F3.5 - 5.6.

Hi Newbie D70,
Here is one I took as well seem fairly similar. I used my 70-300 G Lens. F5.6 1/500th Sec Aperture Priority 300mm focal length and hand held took me alot of different settings and attempts to get to this though!!! http://www.pbase.com/mrsoz/image/50966942.jpg D70 18-70mm Kit Lens, Nikkor70-300mm ED, Nikkor 50mm f1.8, Tamron 70-300MM F/4-5.6 LD MACRO 1:2, Sigma 28-200 1:4~5.6, TC-16A AF Teleconverter, SB-800 Nikon F60 Film Body.

With respect 200 and 300 mm lenses simply do not have enough reach for this sort of thing, and what you guys have captured is about their limit.
May I suggest that you try early morning rather than late at night as the moon always seems to appear closer. ![]() "The good thing about meditation is that it makes doing nothing respectable"

Thanks for that Oneputt,
The weather here has been overcast for a couple of weeks but maybe next full moon I will try out the early morning shot. Yes I realise these lenses are very limited for this kind of thing but my lens lust doesn't extend to reality at the moment ![]() I have been looking at the 2 x teleconverters........ do they make much of a difference with say the 70-300mm lens? cheers Tony D70 18-70mm Kit Lens, Nikkor70-300mm ED, Nikkor 50mm f1.8, Tamron 70-300MM F/4-5.6 LD MACRO 1:2, Sigma 28-200 1:4~5.6, TC-16A AF Teleconverter, SB-800 Nikon F60 Film Body.

Tony even when I had a 500mm it still wasn't really enough, and I do not know personally how a TC works with that lens. Someone here will though.
