My SB800 arrived today. Thanks Birdy, great price and fantastic service :D :D

So I had to have a quick play.

These are all hand held at 1/500s taken between client visits today. Wind was a pain but I just wanted to try it out. (I am sure most of you know the feeling  )

G'day Mark,
Isn't the SB800 an amazing piece of technology? Auto everythign and it just works everything out really well, or play with settings for the more creative stuff, I can relate exactly to the "but I just wanted to try it out..." :)

Particularly enjoyed #2 for the DOF effect and the smattering of colour... That last one looks almost metallic...

Cheers.

Thanks Andrew,

Amazing allright. I had a play with Oneputt's SB800 but I had no idea of just what it could really do.

Still don't really after only taking a few shots.

I reckon I might flatten the batteries on the weekend though :D

One thing I have noticed is the BIG difference made by using that extra (5th) battery, really quick to cycle and be ready for the next shot. That and just how easy it is to use it as a remote, activating it with the on-baord flash on low power. Amazing stuff...

Like the first and last.

The others seem to have a bit too much direct flash on them?

Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes.

Just make sure the on-board's on manual (say 1/32nd power level so the on-board doesn't contribute to the level of flash used on the subject), that way the SB800 isn't tripped by any red-eye reduction pre-flashes...

Cheers :)
