I really don't know what the flower is perhaps a member of the hibiscus family - the lesser known Hibiscus Chernobylus (only found 200m from the Chernobyl implode). But, nikon boy a lovely crisply rendered image of vibrant colour. I just must have a D2X or the D200 if it's the progeny of the D2X. I have LUST big time.
Lovely shot!
cheers

The leaves are a puzzle cuz I'm not an expert, by any means, but they look very much like a cluster I took at a botanical garden that were labeled as orchids. Actually I didn't take 'em :? I took 'em ... knowwhatimean :?:

Ok, I'm no horticulturalist, but I think what you have here is a member of the Rhododendron species (possibly the 'Ben Moseley' hybrid??? :? ). It's pretty similar to an Azalea (in fact it might actually be an Azalea....I think all Azalea's are Rhododendrons, but a Rhododendron isn't always an Azalea. Owwww, I have a headache)! :D
