Well I took a nice little portrait with the sigma 70-200 + SB-80DX + LSII
Here is the original with adjusted curves:
Now I duplicated the layer did a guassian blur and played with levels on the layer a bit so the "glow bits" are higher key that the BG layer... So we call this one Diffuse Glow:
Now the final one I de-saturated and beefed up the contrast using curves even further, so we call this diffuse glow B&W
SO... what do you think? What is your favourite?? Any suggestions for other things to try ?

I prefer the original. To me, the colouring on the second one makes the baby look a bit ill. I find the black and white one a bit too light in some areas and it doesn't look as sharp as the first one (I know, it's supposed to be diffused!).

#1 is the best.
#2 the reds and yellows look wrong....check the skin tones and the lip color. Plus looks a tad soft.
#3 just doesn't work as a BW imho.

I like the first one better and agree that the tone in the second image makes bub look kinda sick.
I like the B&W one also. But I'm a bit of a sucker for B&W images, I think they always have a classic look to them. But maybe that 's just me!

Have you tried the Photoshop 55mm diffuser? I like the results I get with that.

IMHO Original is best.
#2 makes baby look anaemic.
#3 is OK but the B&W doesn't add anything to the pic I think.

Hi MHD,
No 1 is the best.
No 2 is too soft.
No 3 is like No 2, perhaps try a B/W on No 1 ?
Cheers,
CD

Scotty - no.1 is by far and away the best one, it's natural, the most natural looking. No.2 is ok, but too blurred and no.3 well, it's not no.1

. The first one is the real winner matey. Nice candid.

Definately the original, maybe the second might work if the eyes etc are still sharp? not sure about the B&W, doesn't seem to "work" for me...
