I'd love to hear your thoughts. The second one I hate the building on the right, the first one I don't know about the horizontal log, and the last one, I don't know what to think about that one, other than I love the cool purple sky.

Sci-fi Night ShotsLast week I found a nifty little spot by the shipyard. I'm starting to go for more surreal effects, giving the tints a noticeable purple push, and exposing a little longer for a surreal sci-fi effect. The sky sucked, so I'm thinking of heading back.

Last one is awesome... Looks like a space ship!

I think the 1st and 3rd are very cool shots, Dave, just the way they are. Quite surreal.

Great find & well executed. #2 is the weakest. Is the purple hue part of the PP, or is this how it came out of the camera? Peter

#3 - This is a great shot. Just a shame that you didnt correct perspective. Look at crane chains, they deny physics
![]() #2 - This one doesnt work for me #1 - That one is interesting. Contrast between silky water and rought rocks. You could cut of sky since it disctract atention from subject. Dont ask viewer to search a focus. Drop it right into his/her face. Regards, K.Polak
Wow...great work! Seeing images like this makes me want to tell everyone to go and get the Epson R1800.
I've done a few prints this morning...ooooooooh yah!! It's nice ![]() By the way, what was the time exposure for the first image? It's a ripper! Geoff

Great Stuff Dave, I love them all but the 3rd is a killer.
What sort of exposure did you have? Thanks, Sonny
that 3rd shot is my fave! Great hues and the ship just looks amazing like that. Very sci fi.

Reallly love the first and third shot. Just not quite sure about the second. But I do realy love the first one, could almost see it as a back drop to a horror movie , spookie. Doug As soon as you make something idiot proof they build a better idiot.
#2 is just superb - why? Because it is the only one IMO that fits the title - well done Dave

Thanks for the comments everyone.
#1 is 258 secs at f11 (I keep most of my stuff between f8-f13) with kit lens. #2 is 333 secs at F8. #3 is 98 secs at F8 I'm having a bit of fun with the tint slider in the Raw Plugin lately, adding a little purple, and I move the wb towards the cold side, to get the surreal bluish color. I find I'll start the evening by shooting at f13, and by the end I want to go home and everything is F 8. #3 came out underexposed, I pushed it a little in Raw. There's no way I would ever shoot anything like this in jpeg. It must be Raw all the way. All my shots are taken with the kit lens. The Crane is a part of the picture so I don't want to crop it out, and I don't know how to do perspective correction in PS. I decided to keep it like this as the ship boat thing is the primary subject, so I made it look the most normal, while sacrificing the proper angle of the crane. I also tend to leave a little sky at the top incase I want to print an 8x10, but yes, there is a tad too much sky there. I really appreciate the comments. There are a couple more on my flickrpage, all of them are on the front page so have a peek if you like. You can also access the exif data on the properties link beside the photo (after you click on it).
Dooda,
About shot #3 and crane. Actually you could leave it as it this without ony perspective correction. It gives this extra punch of surrealism. Also I wold not crop anything here. Sky gives space to both of those element. It is just perfect shot. Regards, K.Pola
