.......and some others from the airshow that was part of the opening of the new airport terminal in Adelaide!!

I guess you have to lean out of the window if you don't have any rear-view mirrors!
300mm 1/2000th f/5.6
This diver has just jumped from 4000feet
300mm 1/640th f/7.1
This flag was huge!!
300mm 1/640th f/7.1
This guy was on his way back down in a vertical dive
300mm 1/640th f/9
Roulettes - these guys are awesome to watch
300mm 1/400th f/9
These guys wingtips are often only 3m apart!
300mm 1/400th f/9
All images taken with the D70s + Nikkor AFG 70-300mm. I really must learn how to get sharper photos. These are some of the better ones, but others were no good. eg I was not happy with either of the FA/18 shots from its flyover. Its a bugger because you only get one chance!
Suggestions for improvement / general comments really appreciated - its the only way I'll learn!!
Thanks for looking
Nat

Nice work, good shots.
I wasn't that attracted by the title, kinda like new shoes, they are much more comfortable after you have worn them a couple of times.
I have to get to the next Avalon airshow and stop being a slacker.
My suggestion re sharpness etc etc is to get a 70-200 VR or an 80-400 VR, that should do it. Or a good quality prime. The 70-300's (Nikon, Sigma and Tamron) are good lenses, but at the budget end of things.
Having said that, I loved my Tamron until I got the 80-400 VR.

I quite like the flag picture. It looks massive and is displaying quite well (ie not bunched up too much).

Thanks for commenting guys.

I thought that too, but unfortunately thats as far as I could reach. If the sharpness had been better I may have been able to crop and resize more severely, but alas.... Yeah - I know, but....$$$$$. I will have to persist with the 70-300 for now (just had to spend over 2k on car repairs ). I was hoping some of our members had worked out the optimum f-stop etc for this lens and were prepared to share this knowledge
Cheers

Maybe not definitive, but I get decent results in the F8 - F11 range and at focal lengths less than 200 mm - anything above tends to be soft.
I like the flag shot.
