Sorry - a bit rude

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Thanks everyone for your comments. The people at the cabin next to us asked why I was taking a photo of a table - when I showed them the photo, I was informed I was sick and twisted !! I'm an entomologist - I'm supposed to be :)

Where's the fly spray - the last thing Australia needs is more flies :-)

Great shot blacknstormy...

What lens / equipment did you take that with??

Who would have thought 2 flies going for it would cause such excitement :) LOL Only kidding - thanks everyone for your comments !

I really should have posted the exif info - sorry: here 'tis

shutter speed 0.7sec, f29, iso 200, 105mm (Micro nikon), flash with diffuser set on 3.... was taken on white background, so flash effectively killed anything behind the flies (just what I wanted).

Great work!

Check out the look of ecstasy on the top fly - I guess that would be the male, but I'm NOT an entomologist. PS - I am worried that he may be a necrophiliac. The female looks dead to me. Maybe she's worried about the where the kids are!

Ripper shot Narelle.

I'll just re-iterate what I said on Saturday night when you first sent me the shot:

Wow !! So that’s where maggots come from!
That’ll bring the house down on the forum – if it ever gets back up….

And I was right!

An outstanding macro image and an unusual image. This would have won you first prize in the "movement" comp.

A work of art and if it is not a small crop....then make large framed prints and sell them for $900 each.

start of of photo series or a cartoon

Postby christiand on Mon Oct 10, 2005 10:07 pm

Wow !

great photo.
The funny bone in me is imagening a photo book about the Secret Life Of Flies. (having sex, going to work, doing shopping, minding the kids etc, etc)
It could also be a start of a cartoon ??? ...
Unfortunately I don't have the skills to pull it off.

Best regards,
Christian
